One Life
I’m arriving on the 4:15 from My Life Central
It’s a slow train, but it got here in the end
Were you waiting, when I stepped out on the platform
Or had you left me, had you run out of time
I’m left here standing, waiting for my pick-up
But I’m too late, ‘cos you’ve left and gone
Leave a light on, stand there at the doorway
Keep your arms wide open I’ll be walking my life to you
Are you willing to stand there like a fool until I
come, tears in eyes into his arms?
You said you loved me when I took the train from My Life Central
Many twisting turns to get me here today
At times it looked as though I’d turned off to a different station
Is that when you turned your back and walked away?
You’ve left me standing, waiting for my pick-up
You told me I was too late, ‘cos you’ve left and gone
Leave a light on, stand there at the doorway
Keep your arms wide open I’ll be walking my life to you
Are you willing to stand there like a fool until I
come, tears in eyes into his arms?
What’s it worth, can you hang the extra seconds?
Give a lifetime, to see my train come in?
What’s a life anyway? Are they two a penny?
Or can one life be worth a million souls?
The minutes tick by, as I take the train from My Life Central
Can you hang for a few hours, or is that asking just too much?
If I stray will you say "It is finished"
Or is your mercy something not akin?
I’m still here standing, waiting for my pick-up
Am I too late, have you’ve left and gone?
Leave a light on, stand there at the doorway
Keep your arms wide open I’ll be walking my life to you
Are you willing to stand there like a fool until I
come, tears in eyes into his arms?
