It’s not like every supporter of Proposition 8 is a principled, rational person who just wants to “protect traditional marriage.” Actually, I’d say that the majority are bigots, but then again that’s because I live in the South. A friend of mine in California was recently brutalized by Proposition 8 supporters, though, so this street runs both ways:
It would be nice if we only allowed the non-bigoted, rational voters to vote on these polemical issues, for there are fire-breathers on both sides. Unfortunately, I don’t know how we’d come up with that kind of test. I wish we could, though.
