Are we reading Giles Fraser wrong?
Here’s the man himself talking about his reasons for resigning.
Was it actually just one man sticking to his principles, or is it a case of there being more to it? When he talks about “extraordinary, grown-up and respectful conversations”, is he being totally transparent or choosing his words carefully?
Discuss!
So he didn’t actually tell the police to go away and leave the protestors alone, then? Hmmm …
He likes to claim the moral high ground by implying that certain others are not standing up for the right to peacefully protest, and are prepared to use violence. This is a disgraceful slur.
Any idea why RtRev Knowles had to resign too? It seems disproportionate to the (un)importance of a few rent-a-crowd political activists who are hoping to bring down the politico-economic system that feeds them!
ps I heard speculation that RtRev Knowles might resign last week! Do you think there was power struggle and the resignations were a way to force the Dean out?
pps Whatever the reason, I hope +London now just ignores the protestors! There are a lot more important things to do in the Kingdom of God than worry about today’s TV shows… or making yourself into campaign fodder for them!!
He’d been moving to evict the protesters and the Chapter basically revolted. He decided that given that he couldn’t stay.
